Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

The 2015 N.C. State Fair opens Thursday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m., and as always, agriculture will be a major focus.
The Agriculture Today exhibit is adding a 360-degree video that allows visitors a firsthand look at a harvest.

The annual mock tobacco auction will move to the new Tobacco Pavilion in Heritage Circle and take place on Friday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m.

And of course, there will be livestock shows. The annual Sale of Champions will auction off the winners of the Junior Livestock Shows on Saturday, Oct. 17.

There are several new offerings on the State Fair’s food lineup, and Commissioner Troxler says visitors should be able to find something to suit their taste.

Also this year, the N.C. Forest Service will celebrate its 100th anniversary during the fair with a time-capsule ceremony on Oct. 19.

The 2015 N.C. State Fair runs Oct. 15-25 at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Discounted advance tickets are on sale through Thursday.
