Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3762, Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act:

“Today’s budget reconciliation is exactly the type of responsible governing that our constituents sent us to Washington implement. Today’s budget will reduce the deficit by more than $129 billion over the next 10 years and includes components to dismantle Obamacare, protect taxpayer dollars and move us toward real, patient-centered healthcare. Additionally, this bill will help end the flow of taxpayer dollars to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood.”

“I’m particularly proud to see that this budget will repeal the individual and employer mandates – key components within Obamacare that continue to cripple North Carolina families and small business owners with fines and penalties. These components, and others like it, are critical to the viability of Obamacare so by passing today’s legislation, we will abolish 85 percent of the president’s failed healthcare law. This is a monumental step towards fully repealing Obamacare and restoring patient choice.”
