Last fall, the American people elected Republican majorities to both houses of Congress entrusting that we would make every effort to stop President Obama's disastrous healthcare law. That effort continued this week as the House passed H.R. 3762, the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015. This bill fully defunds a number of the law's most destructive mandates including the individual and employer mandates. It also repeals the job-killing medical device tax and ends a number of the law's other onerous mandates.

Most importantly, this legislation was passed under specific rules preventing Senate Democrats from filibustering its passage. That means, with 51 votes in the Senate this bill will head to President Obama's desk. Then it will be up to the President to decide if he wishes to continue to defend this broken law or instead help out the countless Americans--including many in Western North Carolina--who are suffering under this law's excessive requirements.
