Nov. Crop Report: NC crop production down in 2015

Corn for grain
• Yield is forecast at 118 bushels per acre, down 14 bushels from last year’s yield of 132 bushels per acre. 
• Production is forecast to total 86.1 million bushels, down 16% from last year. 
• Harvested acres are forecast at 730,000 acres, down from 780,000 acres in 2014. 


Cotton
• Yield is forecast at 783 pounds per acre, down 255 pounds from the 2014 record yield of 1,038 pounds per acre. 
• Production is forecast at 620,000 bales, down 38% from last year’s production of 995,000 bales. 
• Harvested acres are expected to total 380,000 acres compared with 460,000 acres harvested in 2014. 

Peanuts
• Yield per acre is forecast at 3,800 pounds, down 520 pounds per acre from the 2014 record of 4,320 pounds. 
• Production is forecast at 338.2 million pounds, down 16% from last year’s production. 
• Harvested acres are projected at 89,000 acres, down 4,000 acres from 2014. 


Soybeans
• Yield is forecast to average 34 bushels per acre, down 6 bushels from last year’s record yield of 40 bushels. 
• Production is forecast to total 61.5 million bushels, down 11% from last year’s production of 69.2 million bushels. 
• Harvested acres are projected at 1.8 million acres, up 5% from last year
