 Perdue donates chicken
Perdue Farms donated 10,000 pounds of chicken for families at the high-need Winecoff Elementary in Concord, N.C., via Second Harvest Food Bank’s school-based mobile pantry. At Winecoff Elementary, 92.4 percent of students are part of the free-reduced lunch program. Perdue has operations in the county.

Smithfield gives $2 million in Virginia; food in Texas
The Windsor Castle Park Foundation (WCPF) announced today that the Town of Smithfield has committed $2 million to begin the renovation process of the manor house and its existing outbuildings at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, Va., and Smithfield Foods has agreed to give $1 million to the project. This gift is in addition to the $300 thousand gift that Smithfield Foods has already given for other architectural fees associated with the renovation.
Smithfield partnered with Kroger and Richard Petty Motorsports to donate 25,000 pounds of protein to the Tarrant Area Food Bank to help serve North Texas communities.

Kretschmar, Make-A-Wish send child to CMA Awards
Alyssa Willis, a 12-year-old girl battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), of Beaufort, N.C., is a big country music fan who wished to attend the CMA Awards in Nashville. In November, Kretschmar Premium Meats & Cheeses partnered with Make-A-Wish to help make that wish come true. Kretschmar hosted a two-day VIP country music experience for Willis, beginning with a private concert by Ruthie Collins, a rising country star who is part of Kretschmar's Future Legends of Country. Willis and her family also were treated to a show at the iconic Grand Ole Opry.
