Mecklenburg County Republican Party Chairman Curtis Watkins has abruptly resigned.The Charlotte Observer reports (http://bit.ly/1Nwxuwj) Watkins resigned Tuesday, two days after Sen. Bob Rucho had asked officials to investigate allegations that Watkins tried to recruit a challenger to state Rep. Mike Hager of Rutherford County.
