Dear Friend,

Today, the House and Senate passed a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that will be sent to President Obama for his signature.

As the only member of Congress to vote against every debt ceiling increase in the last 12 years, I cannot in good conscience support a bill that makes the most pressing issue facing our country – out of control federal spending – significantly worse.

President Obama, party leaders in Washington on both sides of the aisle, and the special interests all supported this bill.  And why wouldn’t they?  They wrote the bill behind closed doors then dropped it in the dead of night, giving the public less than 57 hours to review its 2,000 pages before it was voted on.  It should be no surprise that the bill reflects their priorities, not the people’s.

The bill provides a free pass to terrorists trying to enter our country disguised as refugees, and it fully funds the rest of the President’s radical, open borders immigration agenda.  It includes hundreds of billions of dollars of more deficit spending, billions of dollars in deficit-financed foreign aid for countries that hate us, billions of dollars for President Obama’s unauthorized wars, funding for Obamacare, and funding for Planned Parenthood’s butchery.  It’s also chock full of Christmas goodies for special interests, only a fraction of which we know about at the present time because of the size of the bill and the lack of time given to review it.

Once again, the Washington Establishment wins, and the people lose. It's sickening.

You can count on me to follow the will of the people and do everything I can in the fight to cut wasteful spending, eliminate the deficit, and pay down the debt. That is why I have voted against more spending bills than all but one of my Republican colleagues in Congress since 2004. I will continue the fight against the Washington Establishment's wasteful spending in 2016.

From my family to yours, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thank you,
Congressman Jones
