Providing Certainty to Families & Small Businesses
Our tax code is broken and in need of serious reforms. This week, the House took first steps to make that happen with passage of the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015. This bill, which passed with wide bipartisan support makes permanent a number of tax breaks that benefit both families and small businesses. Among them are credits for teacher's classroom expenses and credits which encourage businesses to reinvest in new equipment, allowing them to grow and hire more workers. Additionally, the PATH Act includes reforms to ensure the integrity of popular tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Child Tax Credit and also includes protections to better defend taxpayers from abuse by the IRS.
