Corn for Grain
• North Carolina farmers harvested 730,000 acres of corn for grain in 2015, down 50,000 acres from 2014. 
• Yield averaged 113 bushels per acre, down 19 bushels from the 2014. 
• Production at 82.5 million bushels was 20% lower than the 2014 total of 103.0 million. 

Cotton
• 2015 cotton acres harvested in 2015 totaled 385,000 acres down 75 acres from the 460,000 harvested in 2014. 
• Yield averaged 686 pounds per acre, was 352 pounds lower than the 2014 record of 1,038 pounds. 
• Production at 522,000 bales was down 48% from the 995,000 bales produced in 2014 

Peanuts
• North Carolina farmers harvested 88,000 acres of peanuts in 2015, 5,000 acres less than the 93,000 acres harvested in 2014. 
• Yield per acre at 3,400 pounds was down 920 pounds per acre from the 2014 record yield of 4,320. 
• Production at 299.2 million pounds was down 26% from 401.8 million pounds of peanuts produced in 2014. 

Soybeans
• Soybean acres harvested in 2015 totaled 1.79 million. This was up 60,000 acres from the 1.73 million acres harvested in 2014. 
• Yield averaged 32 bushels per acre. 8 bushels lower than 2014 record of 40 bushels per acre. 
• Production totaled 57.3 million bushels, down 17% from last year.

Sweet Potatoes
• North Carolina farmers harvested 86,000 acres of
sweet potatoes in 2015, up 14,000 acres from 2014.
• Yield averaged 190 cwt. per acre, down 30 cwt. from
the 2014 record for 220 cwt. per acre
• Production at 16.3 million cwt. was up 3% from last
year’s production of 15.8 million cwt.

Tobacco
• North Carolina farmers harvested 171,000 acres of
tobacco in 2015, down 212,400 acres from last year.
• Burley tobacco yield averaged 1,850 pounds per acre
while Flue-Cured tobacco yield averaged 2,200 pounds
per acre.
• Production was down 17% for flue-cured tobacco at
374.0 million pounds and down 30% for burley tobacco
at 1.9 million pounds.
