Obamacare Repeal Veto Override Vote
When Republicans gained control of both the House and the Senate in 2014, we committed to sending a full repeal of Obamacare to President Obama's desk. In January, we did just that as we coupled an Obamacare repeal with a measure that cut all federal funding to Planned Parenthood. Unsurprisingly, President Obama vetoed this bill.

This week, the House voted--with my support--to override President Obama's veto. Regrettably, this override vote failed. While I'm disappointed our effort was unsuccessful, it is important to recognize the significance of sending the Obamacare repeal and defunding of Planned Parenthood to President Obama's desk. These efforts proved what can be accomplished should a Republican be elected to the White House this November.

Receiving a Conservative Achievement Award
I am honored to have recently received the Conservative Achievement Award from the American Conservative Union (ACU). I was presented with the award in my office by ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. The ACU--which is the host of the annual CPAC conference--is recognized as the 'gold standard' of Congressional ratings and I'm proud to have earned a lifetime rating of over 95% from the group. The ACU shares my belief in the conservative principles of individual liberty and small government and I remain fully committed to defending those principles each day in Congress.
