Butterball adds it up
In the wake of the Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 win, Butterball LLC backed up the friendly wager N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory made with Colorado Gov. John Hinckenlooper by paying out five 50-case donations of turkey products across four food banks in North Carolina and Colorado. In total, Butterball donated 250 cases of turkey products, about 20,000 meals.

Butterball donated more than 530,000 pounds of turkey products throughout 2015 to more than 51 charitable efforts (about 2.8 million meals, based on USDA-recommended 3-ounce serving sizes).

Butterball plant employees logged nearly 5,000 volunteer hours at 18 organizations throughout 2015. Employees volunteered with Alzheimer’s Walk, Red Cross Blood Drives, community soup kitchens, Cures for Colors Walk, Relay for Life and several other organizations.

Tyson Foods gives to Watershed
Tyson Foods and the Tyson family are partnering on a $200,000 donation to the Watershed Human and Community Development Agency Inc. for renovations to its kitchen. The announcement was made during a recent event honoring Rev. Hezekiah Stewart, executive director of the Watershed.

Farmland reports #BaconforSanta tally
Farmland donated 75,000 combined pounds of protein to Midwest food banks in Denver, Milwaukee and Kansas City, providing more than 300,000 servings to local families in need. These donations marked the culmination of Farmland's recent Bacon for Santa holiday campaign, a commitment to donate one pound of protein to local food banks for every #BaconForSanta hashtag used on social media from December 1 through 24, 2015.

Deli Star totals 2015's donations
Deli Star Corp. in 2015 donated deli meat to make some 336,000 sandwiches, amounting to nearly $220,000 in donated product and demonstrates the company’s dedication to its investment in the regional community.

Deli Star donated more than 84,000 lbs. of cooked meat such as smoked honey ham, oven-cured chicken breast, turkey breast, slow-cooked pastrami, bologna, roast beef, and Angus beef meatloaf to various organizations across the region, including: Operation Food Search; Mary, Mother of the Church in St. Louis; U.S. Marshals Service, Southern District of Illinois; Children for Christ in St. Louis; East St. Louis Grade School in East St. Louis, Ill.; and Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville, Ill.

IPPE gives $10,300 to Atlanta
As part of the effort to fight hunger, the 2016 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) raised $10,300 for the Atlanta Community Food Bank through its “Giving Back to Atlanta” campaign. The donation comprised $5,000 from IPPE, $2,000 from Wyndham Jade, $1,500 from Hawkins Inc., and numerous individual donations.

"For every dollar donated, the Food Bank can provide enough food for four meals, so this donation equates to more than 40,000 meals for families, seniors and individuals who struggle to put food on the table," said Kyle Waide, president & CEO, Atlanta Community Food Bank.
