Subway’s newest addition to its sandwich menu is Rotisserie-Style Chicken that is raised without antibiotics, the next step in the brand's commitment to transition to only serve proteins raised without antibiotics, the company said in a news release.

“After months of working with supply chain and industry experts to meet the new demand, Subway is the largest global QSR restaurant chain to serve chicken that is raised without antibiotics at scale,” the release said. The new offering also has no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

"At first, there wasn't a national supply available to meet our demands of our 27,000-plus U.S. restaurants, but our guests pushed us to continue the journey with our purchasing partners and suppliers and we are proud to deliver on our commitment,” the release said.

The chicken is hand-pulled in the restaurant, and can be paired with veggies, cheeses or sauces offered by Subway. It is an American Heart Association Heart Check certified sub when made with spinach and other fresh veggies, a combination that will be added to the Subway Fresh Fit collection. Suggested retail pricing starts at $4.75 for a 6-inch sub / $7.75 for a Footlong.
