USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is seeking applications for the National Water Quality Initiative (NWQI) under the 2016  Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

The purpose of NWQI is to work with producers and landowners to implement voluntary conservation practices that improve water quality in high-priority watersheds while maintaining agricultural productivity. NWQI is designed to help individual agricultural producers take actions to reduce the runoff of sediment, nutrients, and pathogens into waterways where water quality is a critical concern. The goal is to implement conservation practices in focused watersheds in a concentrated area so that agriculture no longer contributes to the impairment of water bodies within these priority watersheds.

Landowners interested in applying for NWQI should contact their local NRCS Field Office today to learn more about the program and eligibility. Interested applicants should have their applications submitted by May 20, 2016, to be considered for available Financial Assistance.
