The North Carolina potato season only last a few weeks — from roughly mid-June through the end of July — but it’s hardly, um, small potatoes. Since North Carolina farmers only sell their crop fresh, the deal lives up to the North Carolina Potato Association’s slogan — “Your Summer Potatoes” — shipping as many as 17,000 acres of red, yellow and white potatoes in just six weeks.
