Pittenger barely retains District 9 seat

U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger narrowly retained his District 9 seat, beating two challengers who both led the Republican primary race at times Tuesday.  Pittenger finished with 9,257 votes or about 34.94 percent, according to unofficial returns. Mark Harris, pastor of First Baptist Church in Charlotte, had 9,122 votes or 34.43 percent.
