Just in time for the first official day of summer, blueberry picking season kicked off this weekend at Creekside Farm in Johnston County. Dozens of families headed to the farm, about 10 miles east of Clayton, to get the year’s first taste of blueberries fresh off the bush. Kids ran through the rows of bushes, sampling a berry or two and getting juice on their hands before filling up plastic buckets.
