Orland, Ind.-based Miller Poultry announced that it is expanding grow-out capacity, starting a new breeder operation and now feeding 100 percent non-GMO grains in the company’s antibiotic-free program.

Miller’s processing plant has now added a second shift, and is now processing 650,000 birds per week.

The company’s breeder project will add 52 new contract growers to the area in Northern Indiana, and “add significantly more jobs to the area.” The project is tentatively scheduled for completion in early 2018.

“Miller Poultry is excited for the opportunity to expand our business and bring jobs to the local area,” Miller Poultry CEO and Owner Galen Miller said in a news release. “This will also make our business more sustainable and help us continue to produce good quality products to the end producer.”

Miller Poultry is now also feeding a non-GMO fed diet across all feed other than its organic program.
Miller Poultry employs about 800 people.
