Tyson Foods has fired two employees depicted in a video mishandling birds on a contract farm, a company spokesman told Meatingplace.

“Tyson Foods learned of a video depicting poor animal handling by employees recorded on some of our contract poultry farms in Virginia. As a result, we’re taking immediate action. Two of the employees who clearly mishandled birds were terminated immediately. Other employees are on suspension pending a full investigation,” said Tyson spokesman Worth Sparkman in an email.

“We're disturbed by these actions and do not tolerate abuse of any animal. We’re committed to a culture of animal wellbeing and we don’t believe the video accurately depicts the treatment of chickens by our employees,” he added.
The video has so far not been made public.
