North Carolina August crop production report

Corn for grain
• Yield is forecast at 130 bushels per acre, up 17 bushels from
last year’s yield of 113 bushels per acre.
• Production is forecast to total 122.2 million bushels, up 48%
the 82.5 million bushels produced last year.
• Harvested acres are forecast at 940,000, up from the 730,000
acres harvested in 2015.


Cotton
• Yield is forecast at 943 pounds per acre, up 230 pounds
from last year’s yield of 713 pounds per acre.
• Production is forecast at 560,000 bales, up 6% from last
year’s production of 527,000 bales.
• Harvested acres are expected to total 285,000 acres
compared with 355,000 acres harvested in 2015.


Peanuts
• Yield per acre is forecast at 3,800 pounds, up 400 pounds per
acre from last year.
• Production is forecast at 300 million pounds, up slightly from
last year’s production.
• Harvested acres are projected at 79,000 acres, down 9,000
acres from 2015.


Soybeans
• Yield is forecast to average 36 bushels per acre, up 4
bushels from last year’s yield of 32.
• Production is forecast to total 57.6 million bushels, up 1%
from last year’s production of 57.2 million bushels.
• Harvested acres are projected at 1.6 million acres, down
11% from last year.
