USDA APHIS Biotechnology Regulatory Services (BRS) announced  its intent to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) to evaluate the environmental impacts that may result from the approval of a petition for deregulation of a creeping bentgrass genetically engineered for glyphosate resistance.

APHIS requests that the public review the Notice of Intent (NOI) and provide comment to help identify potential issues and impacts that APHIS should consider in its evaluation of the petition from Scotts Company and Monsanto Company. The NOI will be published in the Federal Register in the coming days.

APHIS will consider all public input submitted during the 30-day comment period on the NOI and use the information as the Agency works to complete, and then publish, the draft EIS.  There will be another public comment period after publication of the draft EIS.  The petition and related information are available on the BRS News Webpage. Upon publication of the NOI in the Federal Register, comments can be submitted at for 30 days.
