Corn harvest well underway in southern North Carolina

There were more than 6 days suitable for field work in the week ended August 21st in North Carolina according to the latest crop progress report.  Topsoil moisture is rated at 6% very short, 24% short, 61% adequate and 9% surplus.  Mac Malloy with Robeson County Extension reports Corn harvest is well under way with yields above average in most areas.
