Duke Energy executive takes more active role in commercial solar company

A Duke Energy solar executive has taken over as CEO of REC Solar, a majority-owned Duke subsidiary that specializes in commercial solar projects. Matt Walz had been Duke Energy Renewables’ vice president of commercial solar since early 2015.
In April, he was appointed interim CEO at REC Solar after the departure of CEO Allen Bucknam. On Aug. 24, Walz was named CEO of the company, a California-based developer of commercial-scale solar that Duke took a majority stake in February 2015.
