How to control sugarcane aphids in sorghum

The sugarcane aphid can cause severe yield damage to sorghum. But sorghum farmers can limit or stop the damage the invasive insect causes.
University of Georgia Extension Entomologist David Buntin provides some management tips on how to control sugarcane aphids:
• Plant early – Experience in the Delta found that aphids did not usually infest sorghum until later in the season and early planting may avoid very large infestations. In other words, late double-crop plantings are at greater risk of severe infestations.
