Processor T&E Meats will expand its USDA-inspected facility in Harrisonburg, Va., to boost capacity by one-third and increase its focus on value-added products, according to a press release from Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office.

T&E Meats is expected to create seven new jobs and invest more than $640,000 in building improvements and specialized equipment. The company processes meat for private labels, maintaining about 80 independent farm labels and provides custom processing for larger customers.

The state is providing a $50,000 grant through the governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund, which Harrisonburg will match with local funds, for the project.

T&E Meats, which has more than 250 customers, will source 90 percent of its livestock from Virginia beef and pork producers, according to the release.
