Piedmont Natural Gas spent almost $9 million in the first nine months of this fiscal year on merger-related expenses involving Duke Energy’s proposed $4.9 billion purchase of Piedmont. Together direct and indirect merger expenses of $15.8 million recorded in fiscal year 2015, Piedmont has spent a total of $24.7 million on merger expenses since the Duke deal was announced in October 2015.
