The Port of Wilmington is planning more improvements in the hopes of attracting more of the larger vessels being used by shipping companies. A recently completed expansion of the port's turning basin means vessels as long as 1,150 feet and with a breadth of 158 feet can access the port, said N.C. Ports spokesman Cliff Pyron.
