In the latest crop progress report for North Carolina there were only 3.8 days suitable for field work in the week ended October 2nd, compared to 4.3 the previous week, and one the same week last year.  Topsoil moisture is rated at 3% very short, 15% short, 61% adequate and 21% surplus.  .
