Loss of local labor has farmers turning to H-2A program

The H-2A Temporary Agricultural Worker program provides fruit and vegetable growers, and other agriculture producers, the seasonal workers needed for a timely harvest of their crops and care for livestock. In Washington State, the available American farm labor pool has evaporated in the past few years causing many growers to begin using H-2A.
