At the N.C. State Fair, blue ribbons are handed out for pound cakes, pickles and quilts. This year, coffee joined the ranks of the ribbon-worthy contests. For the first time ever, the fair hosted a coffee tasting competition Friday featuring a dozen coffee roasters from Blowing Rock to Raleigh. It is the first such statewide contest on the East Coast and only the second at a state fair. (Oregon beat us to it.) For more of this story, click here.
