A conservation group is working with state and federal officials to protect and rehabilitate thousands of acres of forest in Hoke County.The Nature Conservancy is overseeing the 3,288-acre Calloway Forest Preserve. The organization is managing the land in consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
