At an apple orchard in Central Washington, a few Silicon Valley tech-types are huddled over a laptop, examining a Rube Goldberg-esque machine. Dan Steere is co-founder of Abundant Robotics, where his team has created a machine that completes a simple task: "Find a delicate piece of fruit, get it off of a tree and then get it into a bin without beating it up," Steere said.
