The Big Three tobacco manufacturers raised their traditional cigarette list prices Friday, again testing the elasticity of their customers’ disposable income in a sluggish economy. This time, however, they added a cent to the typical increase, which analysts say will help offset the impact of a significant increase — by $2 to $2.87 a pack — in the California tobacco excise tax.
