Roy Cooper surpasses 10,000-vote lead; Durham County ordered to recount

The contested governor’s race may have taken two pivotal steps toward conclusion Wednesday. The first was Democratic candidate Roy Cooper’s lead exceeding 10,000 votes (at 10,257) over Gov. Pat McCrory, the Republican incumbent, for the first time since the Nov. 8 election.
