Drought conditions persist in Forsyth County and Northwest North Carolina despite recent rain

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows that the western half of Forsyth County and most of Northwest North Carolina remained in a moderate drought. Watauga County remains in a severe drought.The Triad received 1.02 inches of rain for November, which is 2.09 inches below normal, Shawna Cokley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Raleigh, said Thursday.
