As William Effler gazed out at his Christmas tree farm all he could see was smoke. Less than 3 miles away, forest fires ravaged the Burnsville area. It seemed inevitable that Effler’s farm, filled with thousands of trees, would become another casualty in the recent tirade of wildfires.
