Hickory Nut Gap Farm straddles the Buncombe and Henderson county lines. On the U.S. Drought Monitor map, it sits on a ring of extreme drought, encircling a bull's-eye of exceptional drought targeting the far westernmost parts of North Carolina and nearby Southeastern states.
