Mary:  This is Mary Walden with economist MW welcoming you to the economic perspective.  Today’s program looks at the Fed’s dual mandate.  Mike, the Federal Reserve’s low interest rate policy has been criticized from at least two corners.  One is low interest   The other is the low rates give few options to savers who prefer a low-risk financial investment.  Why, then, has the Fed continued to keep interest rates so low?
