Text of StoryState Sen. Wesley Meredith of Fayetteville was elected this month to be one of the Senate's two majority party whips in the 2017-18 session of the General Assembly. And on Tuesday, state Sen. Bill Rabon of Brunswick County, whose district includes Bladen County near Fayetteville, was named chairman of the Senate Rules Committee by state Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger.
