Fertile, high quality farmland continues to disintegrate or turn into high-end second homes across Western North Carolina. But there are some small victories that give hope to preventing a total loss of homes for cattle and a source of local food, offering protection of mountain heritage and the bucolic scenery that makes the WNC mountains so special.
