Gildan Activewear Inc. had to increase its offer by a whopping 33 percent, but it appears to have acquired the brand rights of bankrupt American Apparel LLC. The Montreal basic apparel manufacturer, with a significant yarn production presence in Mocksville and North Carolina, said today its $88 million bid won an auction for American Apparel’s brand and certain other assets.
