For the first time since March 2016, all 100 North Carolina counties are free of drought or dry conditions. “The recent rainfall has brought relief to the state, particularly southwestern North Carolina,” said Linwood Peele, acting chairman of the N.C. Drought Management Advisory Council and the state’s Water Supply Planning Branch supervisor. “Streams, groundwater levels and soil moisture have greatly improved, and counties are now experiencing near long-term averages.” For more of this story, click here.
