As seasoned livestock showmen prepped their animals with baths and haircuts, another group soon to step into the spotlight readied themselves by pinning on numbers and picking up gift bags. Some of the 34 entrants would be taking their first trip around a show ring at the WNC Agricultural Center on Saturday. Others, like Linda Johnson, 70, of Hendersonville, have been a part of the Very Special Livestock show since its start in 2007. For more of this story, click here.
