Dry conditions blanket central NC's drought monitor; little change from previous week

A wide streak of abnormally dry conditions covered much of central and eastern North Carolina this week when the Drought Management Advisory Council released its drought monitor map on Thursday. The map represents little change from last week, said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, although the abnormally dry conditions—the lowest drought classification on the map—spread southward a bit. Moderate drought conditions in counties to the west of the Triangle did not spread.
