Some rural Southern counties have fewer people living in them today than they did in the 1800s. At the 20th annual Southern Peanut Growers Conference held in Sandestin, Fla., earlier this summer, Kent Wolfe, director of the University of Georgia Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development, delivered sobering numbers about population movement.
