Butterball LLC  is expanding turkey production in Arkansas, with plans to add 30 new farms in the River Valley region and add almost 164 jobs at its Ozark processing plant, according to a report by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

“We’ve had an increase in business in the last year or so,” Vernon Felts, the company’s nutritionist and senior director of live operations,” told the newspaper. “So we have a greater need to produce turkeys. We’ve got more consumer demand. To meet that goal we are increasing our footprint in Arkansas.”

Some 60 farms in Ozark and Altus and about 115 farms round Huntsville currently produce turkeys for Butterball, Felts is quoted as saying.
