Damage assessment and drying out

In the latest crop progress report for the week ended October 16th, there were only 3.8 days suitable for field work across North Carolina, compared to 4.4 the previous week.  Topsoil moisture is rated at 2% very short, 11% short, 50% adequate and 37% surplus.  Mark Seitz with Pender County Extension reports that flooding along rivers continues but dry weather during the week helped cropland dry out.
