The U.S. economy has been expanding for 89 months now — the fourth-longest economic expansion on record since 1854. That growth will continue in North Carolina in the new year, but it will be slow growth, according to UNC Charlotte economist John Connaughton. North Carolina’s economy is expected to increase by an inflation-adjusted rate of 2% over the 2016 level next year. For more of this story, click here.
