Mathematics
Design Collaborative (MDC)
The Mathematics Design Collaborative
(MDC) is an initiative that is being promoted and encouraged by the Georgia
Department of Education (DOE) to train as many teachers as possible within the
next
couple of years to use the
Formative Assessment Lessons (FALs) from
the Mathematics Assessment
Project (MAP) website at http://map.mathshell.org. This is the introduction to
the FALs that are on the Shell Centre site. The teachers will be introduced to
both Content Development Lesson and the Problem Solving Lesson. The FALs are
designed to help teachers analyze student work, identify misconceptions and
monitor student growth. These lessons are already written and aligned with
CCGPS in the frameworks. Teachers will be shown how to use the excel
spreadsheet data collection tool. Teachers will be asked to return to their
classroom and implement the lessons into their plans for the remainder of the
year.
