Young Georgia Authors Awards Ceremony When: Friday, April 15, 2016 Time: 9:30 a.m. Where: Robert W. and Inez F. Thiele Auditorium Ogeechee Fall Line Technical College 1189 Deepstep Road Sandersville, GA 31082 This program will recognize the efforts and talents of
local writers in our participating districts. Regional winners for
writers in grades K-12 will also be recognized. These students will move
on and participate in the state level competition. Writers in Baldwin,
Johnson, and Putnam County School Systems participated in local contests this
year. The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing
competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in
their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and
to recognize student achievement in arts and academics. This prestigious competition has been engaging Georgia students for more than two decades and is open to any student currently enrolled in Georgia public schools, grades K -12. The competition is sponsored by the Georgia Council of Teachers of English (GCTE) with the Georgia Department of Education support and cooperation. |
