Oconee RSA District School Counselors will come together and discuss current trends and concerns with student supports, college/career explorations, CCRPI requirements, collaboration with teachers and staff, GA Milestones and other issues facing staff in their districts. Please note the following additional presentations: (1) The College Board staff will facilitate a workshop entitled: Improving Student Outcomes on College Entrance Exams Using Khan Academy.
Participants will be provided with a FREE tool that has the potential to boost your student SAT, Milestone, EOC and AP scores. Participants will learn about the free resources and additional features now available to all students through Khan Academy, which is the official SAT Practice Program. These elements have been designed with a student-centric philosophy and extensively tested to ensure the practice
program provides an engaging and exciting experience. Participants will
leave with best practices and ideas for implementing this resource in their schools/districts.
(2) Catharine Groover, Admissions Counselor of the Mercer University School of Medicine, will discuss the MUSM scholarship program and will also present a few slides on “rural Georgia”, the mission of our school, what we look for in applicants. Finally, she will discuss the “Special Consideration Program” at the Mercer University School of Medicine.
